Delay in negotiations with the EU: the government commented on the statement of the head of the European Commission

Olga Stefanishyna said in a comment to journalists that the EC did not report on difficulties with preparations until March.

The Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna commented on the statement of the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, about the negotiation framework with Ukraine to the European Pravda publication.

The negotiating framework is a document that defines the principles and procedures of negotiations on accession to the EU.

The official noted that work on the negotiating framework has been ongoing since January, and since then the EC has not reported any difficulties with preparations until March.

According to her, the European Commission is still only preparing the text of the negotiation framework and will then submit it for consideration by the EU member states, who must make the final decision.

"According to the decision of the European Council last December, the European Commission has until March to prepare a report on the progress of Ukraine in the implementation of additional steps, followed by consideration of the decision on the negotiating framework," Stefanyshyn said.

We will remind, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the framework for negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union will not be ready for the elections to the European institutions on June 6-9.
