The Guardian: Angela Merkel will release a memoir in November 2024

In November 2024, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel will release a memoir, which will be published under the title "Freedom: Memories 1954-2021". This was reported by The Guardian with reference to the American publishing house Pan Macmillan.

According to the publisher, in the book, Merkel will tell about her life path from childhood in the GDR to the beginning of her political career and work in the highest echelons of the German government "in more detail than ever before."

In a statement to the Macmillan publishing house, the ex-chancellor said that the main purpose of her memoirs is to answer the question of what freedom means to her. According to Merkel, this question has occupied her all her life.

In addition, the book will convey "memories and conclusions from meetings and conversations with the most influential people in the world." The memoirs will also tell about turning points in German, European and international politics and about "how the decisions that defined our time were made."

In April, a book of memoirs by former Prime Minister Liz Truss called "Ten Years to Save the West" was published in Great Britain.
