The police forensics team, in cooperation with the Pula Port Authority, is examining surveillance footage and the remains of burnt yachts.

At the pier of the Croatian town of Medulin, 22 vessels burned in a big fire that broke out in the evening of May 14. This is reported by HRT.

It is noted that the police received a report about the incident at the Medulin pier at 3:55 a.m. on May 15. The fire was brought under control shortly before seven o'clock in the morning, no one was injured.

The undamaged vessels were divided into sectors and separated from the damaged ones, and the burning vessels were separated from the floating pontoon and the fire on them was extinguished.

Local residents reportedly jumped into the sea and pulled out boats they could reach, five of which were towed to safety.

A police forensics team has started working on the spot, and in cooperation with the Pula Port Authority, is studying surveillance camera footage and the remains of the burnt yachts.

“The area is under surveillance, there is a night watchman, there are cameras that will show where the extraordinary event started… So far it is assumed that it started from the boat, but until the investigation is completed we cannot know for sure. The territory is protected. After contacting the insurance companies, we will see what options there are for solving this case.

As you know, this is not the first fire in the Medulin marina. Three years ago, six boats burned at this place.
