Trump promised to "try to help Ukraine"

The former president of the United States and now again a candidate for this position, Donald Trump, said that if he wins the elections, he will try to help Ukraine, but at the same time he will demand the same efforts from Europe.

When asked whether he would continue military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine, Trump replied: "I will try to help Ukraine, but Europe must also keep up and do its job," adding that European countries "are not paying their fair share."

The former US president also commented on the statements of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. After meeting with Trump in March, he said that he would not give a single penny to Ukraine in case of re-election.

No, I said that I will not give (not a penny. – Ed.) unless Europe begins to match (its share of aid. – Ed.)… Europe must pay. Much more falls on us than on European countries. This is very unfair to us," Trump said.

He also said that the European Union unfairly discriminates against the US on trade, and that European NATO members have increased defense spending after he threatened to "let Russia take over" them.
