Lidia Stepanivna survived heavy battles and did not want to stay in the occupied village.

Lidia Stepanivna went through the entire front under fire, covered about 10 km, fell twice – but she tried to reach free Ukrainian territory at all costs.

The National Police of Ukraine told an incredibly touching story: a 98-year-old woman walked out of the occupied part of Ocheretyno, and the White Angels together with the military took her to the aid station.

"Lidia Stepanivna went through the entire front under fire, covered about 10 km, fell twice – but she tried to reach free Ukrainian territory at all costs. The house that a resident of Ocheretynoy built with her own hands was destroyed by the Russians, and her relatives were injured. Fleeing from the occupiers, the woman at the age of 98 made it impossible," the press service of the police said in a statement.

Police officers wonder how the woman managed to survive during the fighting and where she got the strength to overcome the difficult path.

"Lidia Stepanivna walked all day without food or water, fell several times without strength and, as she says, "fell asleep." Kept on two pegs and "on character". The pedestrian was seen on the road by the military and handed over to the White Angel police group .

For a courageous pensioner, the main thing is to be in her Ukraine.

"I survived that war and I am going through this war. She was left with nothing. But I went to my Ukraine on my feet," says the woman.
