Donald Tusk believes that European countries should start cooperation instead of competition in the matter of air defense systems.
The heads of government of Poland and Greece sent a letter to the European Commission on Thursday calling for the creation of a pan-European air defense system. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, Reuters reports.
"I sent a letter to the European Commission together with Prime Minister (Greece) Mitsotakis regarding a common European defense policy. There is already a very positive reaction from the European Commission to make missile defense a joint task for Europe, because it is a huge amount of money.” We are preparing for war not because this war will happen, but so that it does not happen," the Polish government official explained.
According to him, European countries should stop competing in the creation of their air defense systems and start cooperating, including joint investments in the defense industry.
"We need less fragmentation and joint projects. Like, for example, the air defense shield proposed by Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Donald Tusk," European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen wrote on the X social network.
