In 2023, almost ten million foreign tourists visited Kazakhstan

Almost 9.6 million foreign tourists visited Kazakhstan last year, which is twice as much as the year before, Nurtas Karipbayev, head of the Tourism Industry Committee of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan, said at a briefing at the Central Communications Service on June 6.

The number of citizens of Kazakhstan traveling within the country increased by one million last year and reached 9.6 million people.

"Last year, tax revenues to the budget from the tourism industry amounted to 450 billion tenge (1 billion US dollars), which is 64 billion tenge (143.4 million US dollars) more than in 2022," said Karipbaev.

According to him, Kazakhstan emphasizes the development of the investment potential of the tourism industry.

Last year, 117 new tourist facilities worth 57 billion tenge (127.7 million US dollars) were opened in Kazakhstan. About 300 investment projects in the amount of 430 billion tenge ($963.7 million), which are expected to employ more than 7,600 people, are at the stage of implementation.

By the end of this year, it is planned to complete 148 projects for a total amount of 246 billion tenge ($551.3 million).
